Swiss Winners at the IRONMAN 70.3 SWITZERLAND 2007
1'200 athletes from 29 nations participated in today’s premier of the IRONMAN 70.3 SWITZERLAND in Rapperswil-Jona. The 27 years old Swiss professional Ronnie Schildknecht won the men’s race (3:46.39,8). Among the women, Nicola Spirig (SUI) was victorious with a time of 4:15.33,5. Favorite Karin Thuerig crossed the finishing line second (4:19.57,4).
Approximately 30’000 spectators added to the competition’s wonderful ambiance. Despite heavy rains within the last week, the weather stayed nice throughout the race. However, the swimming race was shortened to 1,4 km due to only 14° Celsius water temperature. The race organizer BK Sportpromotion AG deems the IRONMAN 70.3 SWITZERLAND to have been a full success.
